Valley Residential Services (VRS) and the Wasilla Area Seniors, Inc. (WASI) would like to thank the Mat-Su Health Foundation for their funding support of the recent Community Health Fair held at the WASI Center.

This annual event, in its 9th year was a joint effort organized by the VRS and WASI organizations with a health education program and quality blood testing provided by the AK Health Fair, Inc. group. The health fair took place at the WASI center on Saturday, March 10th from  8 AM to 12 Noon.

Community health fairs provide access to health eduction and services for people who don’t always have access to healthcare facilities. This event featured some 32 different exhibits and healthcare booths which offered a wide variety of  healthcare opportunites for health care participants. Some 77 community volunteers operated booths and exhibits, manned check in and check out stations, conducted professional blood draws and even a group of Colony JROTC cadets helped set up and take down the event. The event was well attended with over 202 people registering and participating in the various health education exhibits and some 105 getting their blood drawn for important high quality, low cost blood tests.

The Mat-Su Health Foundation has been a financial supporter of this community event every year and has been a major factor in our ability to continue to host this health fair in our effort to contribute to producing a healthier Mat-Su community. We thank the Mat-Su Health Foundation for their continued support of this important health program!
