HAPPP Awards $150,000 Grant for Breezy Meadows III
The Housing Alaskans: A Private-Public Partnership (HAPPP) announced it would award a grant of $150,000 toward the construction of the third phase of the Breezy Meadows Apartments located on Scott Road in Palmer. The 32 new housing units will provide affordable housing for a range of workforce households and bring the total number of units in this facility to 72 housing units.
“These grants serve as a catalyst, leveraging other funding streams to accelerate housing that supports families, builds the local economy, and strengthens our workforce” says Housing Alaskans Board Chair, Shauna Hegna (President of Koniag). This $150,000 grant will provide the “top off” funding needed for the $12,274,850 project. “This grant of $150,000 is a huge boost to our workforce housing project in Palmer, with the changing environment of rising costs of materials, this funding will keep us on schedule in developing 32 units of housing in the Mat-Su Borough for families in a very convenient location” says John Weaver, President and CEO, Valley Residential Services. Other funders to the project include the Alaska Finance Housing Corporation, Mat-Su Health Foundation, Tax Credit Financing, and bank loans.
Construction for this project is anticipated to start in May of 2025 and is expected to be completed in October of 2026.
